Ten Ring Events

The Ten Ring volunteers have helped organize the following Scouting events:

Venture Voyage

This event is designed for Venturing youth and adult participants to compete in various fun outdoor skills and shooting sports for a team score. If you're interested in organizing something similar, we may be able to help with some event Resources.

Clayfest

Boy Scout and adult participants compete in a round of trap and a round of sporting clays or skeet. The event is held annually at a local gun club.

Trailblazer

This event is an introduction for Boy Scouts to all shooting sports activities. All youth will receive instruction and get the opportunity to try rifle and shotgun shooting, black powder rifle, tomahawk tossing, action and field archery and BB guns. Stations also include fishing, wildlife and trapping related information and activities. Visit www trailblazeradventure.org

District and Unit Range Events

The Shooting Sports Committee is documenting events that were previously Council events and packaging and demonstrating them for District events. Webelos Rendezvous and Schutzenfest have guidelines, operations and budget information that may help you design your event. The Council events are not limited to the Council. Districts and Units are welcome to conduct their own events. You may download these packages from this site under the Resources tab.

Northern Star Council ranges are available for District and Unit events. Please schedule through the Reservation Desk. Please remember that all camp range activities are at the convenience and discretion of the camp Ranger.

Northern Star Council does not provide required range personal for Unit and District events. Northern Star Shooting offers the required courses for individuals. Successfully completing these courses will certify an them as a Range Officer and/or Instructor.

Webelos Rendezvous

Webelos Rendezvous is an event that focuses on the BB Gun and Archery shooting skills, using the Sports and Academic program as its guide. Through this quality time to work on skills, most boys should achieve the sports pin recognition. In addition, fun can be had with slingshots and other recreational type activities.

Schutzenfest

This event is an introduction to all shooting sports activities. All youth will receive instruction and get the opportunity to try rifle and shotgun shooting, black powder rifle, tomahawk tossing, action and field archery, and BB guns.

The 100th anniversary of Boy Scouting in America is this year and Northern Star Council had a huge event to celebrate. This, as most of you know was
"Star Camp" held up at Stearns Scout Camp.

Ten Ring was asked to arrange for all the shooting sports activities. And we had a bunch of different activities planned for this historic event. Those scouts that showed up had a fantastic time. The T-Rex and Dragon along with all the other critters at the Archery range were definitely down for the count, more than once! The rodents on the 22 range also suffer a great defeat. We also got word that a heard of Woolly Mammoths was taken down by Scouts launching Atlatls. Some of the other shooting events the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Ventures, Explorers and Sea Scouts participated in were BB-Gun Shooting, Hawk Throwing, Muzzleloading Percussion and Flintlock Rifle Shooting, and for those older co-ed scout groups Handgun Shooting.

We hope you all were there, it was a great time!!!
